Ek Aasha

EK Aasha means "one hope".

Ek Aasha revolves around the story of a young girl named "Chanda" from Madhubani who loves to learn new things and is ambitious enough to rule the world. She has expertise in Sikki craft as it is her family's bread and butter. On a normal day at the Sikki center, she met a few people from NIFT who came there to teach her how to use social media for the business. An idea struck her mind and she started making videos and putting them on Instagram. Despite initial setbacks and a lack of viewership, she refuses to succumb to discouragement. Her perseverance pays off when her content finally gains traction, garnering hundreds of likes. Chanda's story becomes a beacon of hope, urging others never to lose faith and to embrace new opportunities."

We visited Madhubani to see how Sikki craft artisans were doing and to assist them in using technology to reach more people. We noticed that many people in India, especially in Bihar, didn't know much about Sikki craft, and its popularity was declining. To change this, we decided to make a short film. Our goal was to inspire artisans to use new methods to connect with others and expand their business. We also wanted to show everyone why Sikki craft is important.
